I came across an interesting post by Tarek Mansour, the CEO of Kalashi, the prediction exchange:
I predicted a long time ago that Kalshi is a new menace in town (after me, ofc).
Cuz only a true menace can clock around $260 million in daily trading volume and 763,000 trades in a single evening, easily breaking the official record of the Election Day in terms of engagement.
For the first time in history, sports are beating politics, the zenith of public attention, and Kalshi couldn’t care less, they just keep moving forward.
They paid more attention to being featured in South Park.
Now I say again: Prediction markets are the new era of gambling.
Yes, there are regulatory headwinds: states, tribes, sports leagues all throwing shade, calling event contracts “sports betting by another name.”
And that “name” is “the future”.
Kalshi sees the signal. The audience is here. The capital is here. The appetite is here. Unlike traditional sportsbooks, these markets let you trade outcomes like a real asset, with prices reflecting collective wisdom in real time. That means better odds, deeper liquidity, and a window into what millions of people really believe will happen.
And if regulators play nice (or get forced to), prediction markets will be THE preferred medium.
TL;DR: I predict Kalshi is a preferred medium for anything with uncertainty: finance, climate, geopolitical events, who a pop star will screw next etc.
